OrionVM has been recognised as a finalist in the 2014 American Business Awards for its wholesale cloud platform service.

The Aussie startup has been nominated for a 'Stevie' in the new products & services category.

"We're excited about the nomination - we feel this is going to be a validation for our technology and of what we're doing to the market," an OrionVM spokesperson told CRN.

The company reiterated its ongoing commitment to ramping up their US operations but added that this is expansion is part of their global strategy to eventually see the company expand into Europe.

The 'Stevie' awards launched in 2002 and each year recognise products and services newly introduced to the US market.

This year's finalists were determined by a preliminary judging panel of over 150 members with the winners to be decided by a public vote.

In previous years the award has gone to companies like Internap and DRC. This year OrionVM will compete against Jeunesse Global, Radware and Silver Peak.

OrionVM became eligible for the award after recently opening an office in San Francisco.
